How To: Drill out airholes for increased airflow (The easy way)

How To: Drill out airholes for increased airflow (The easy way)

For those that only have basic tools and wish to drill out their airholes on their mods, this is the guide for you. It’s quick and basic but gets the job done. Read below for a general guide. As always, some mods and atomizers will be different from this method and will require some adapting.

First step:

Here are the items I needed to complete the process of drilling out air holes on the Patriot RDA, from 1,5mm to 2,5mm
drill1 300x230

I needed:

- Drill bits, stopped by at Home Base and picked up a pair of those for £5, they are by black and decker and are meant for drilling metal.

- A small towel

- Drill (I borrowed one from the neighbour, and it’s a dirt cheap one, as he said it cost him £15+/-)

- Cradle (this is a little bit tricky, you will have to find something where you can place the cap in, I used one of the wooden pieces in which my Poldiac came, you can get those too by purchasing a Poldi too, this way, not only are you getting a handy piece of wood but a cracking mod too =P)

Second step:

Roll the towel into a tube like shape and insert it into the cap, make it snug
drill3 225x300

Third step:

Place the remainder of the towel under the top cap and into the cradle, this way the cap lies snug with the ‘half pipe’ and doesn’t move during the drilling process

Final step:

Drilling. Unfortunately I have no picture for this one, but it’s fairly straight forward, place you drill bit onto the existing air hole and start drilling, don’t go gung ho on it by putting excessive pressure onto the drill and going max RPM, with a good ‘for-metal’ drill bit, there is almost no need to push the drill and you need a fairly slow speed for accurate and neat results. It took me seconds to drill through it, and the results were perfect, imho.

The whole process took me around 5 minutes at most.

Hope this helps, if you have any further questions, as away!
