Alternative High Amp Batteries to the Sony VTC5 and VTC4

Alternative High Amp Batteries to the Sony VTC5 and VTC4

Alternative High Amp Batteries Sony VTC5 VTC4

Sony  is out of the market! Why they decided to stop making the VTC5 and VTC4s available to purchase is beyond me! Some say they discontinued to wholesalers and only sell to industry (car, laptop, cell phone, industrial tool companies, etc). Some say they aren’t making them anymore at all. Others believe Sony doesn’t want to be associated with electronic cigarettes. But we just don’t know. It’s all rumors and speculation at this point.

However, you still need a battery to fire up that sick 18650 mech mod of yours! Don’t worry, the Sony VTC wasn’t the only player on the market. Check out these alternatives to keep going without Sony!

Samsung INR18650-25R

Samsung INR18650 25R 300x225

With a 20 amp max continuous discharge this battery can handle sub-ohm builds down to .22 ohms (at your own risk).

Samsung 25R’s are great batteries! If you’re not vaping under .2, the 25R’s actually get slightly longer battery life than the VTC5. They’re also very cheap, so I’d have to firmly place them overall as right behind the VTC5.

Our experience so far has been that this battery significantly outlasts the high current drain king of the hill Sony 18650VTC5 when used at the current levels (5 amps and below) that most VV/VW mods are limited to.   If your VV/VW device (other than a DNA-20/30) can use flat top 18650s (Provari’s cannot), then this is the battery you need !

LG ICR18650HE2

They also have a 20 max continuous discharge rating, but have a pretty long pulse (35a for up to 75s). For short durations, this battery can perform at a very high amp rate but having it accidentally fire for a long period of time is a good way to cause some major issues. LG lists them as ICR cells, so they will vent with flames than just hot gas leading to major hazards should this vent. Be responsible and you’re fine with this bad boy.
